HAWORTHIA Succulent Care

The spiky stems of this succulent make a striking contrast with more rounded succulents as part of a windowsill display. Some sport white raised stripes or spotted reddish bumps, which add to haworthia’s rich texture, while slender stems of long tubular white flowers may appear on mature plants in the summer.

WATERING From spring to fall, allow the top of the potting soil to dry out between waterings. In winter, water sparingly, just enough to prevent the potting soil from completely drying out.
FEEDING Apply a half-strength balanced liquid fertilizer once a month from spring to fall.
PLANTING AND CARE Grow in a small 3–4in (7.5–10cm) pot in cactus potting soil (or a 2:1 mix of aerated potting soil and horticultural hard sand). Set in high or bright indirect light, on or close to a windowsill. Repot every 2–3 years in spring, but only when root-bound.
